What Is Community Supported Agriculture?

CSA

A CSA, (for Community Supported Agriculture) is a way for the food buying public to create a relationship with a farm and to receive a weekly basket of produce.   By making a financial commitment to a farm, people become "members" (or "shareholders," or "subscribers") of the CSA.   Most CSA farmers prefer that members pay for the season up-front, but some farmers will accept weekly or monthly payments.   Some CSAs also require that members work a small number of hours on the farm during the growing season.
(Thanks to www.localharvest.org/csa/ for this brief description.)

At Blooming Patches CSA Farm, membership is for a year.   The membership price is set in advance.   When you come to the farm (hopefully on a regular basis) to pick up your produce, we will keep track of the value of food distributed to you.   For many families, one membership is enough to carry them for the growing season.   If you are a particularly avid consumer of fresh produce, you may find that you have exhausted your membership benefit before the growing season is done.   If that occurs, you can either purchase an additional membership, or just pay cash for items.

Thank you for participating in the harvest of our Community Supported Agriculture Farm!
